What is Polyethylene?

PolyEthylene (PE) is the most widely used plastic in the world. PE is recyclable, strong, tough and resistant to the effects of chemicals, acids, alkalis and solvents.

Polythene is a 'thermoplastic' in the world of plastics. This means that when heated, it becomes pliable and mouldable. After cooling, PE then takes on a solid form again. PE is strong and tough. This plays an important role for many products. This property of PE makes it a perfect plastic for machining, including welding.

PE absorbs virtually no water. It has a high electrical resistance which means it is not a conductor of electricity and is therefore also used as an insulator. There are two types of PE: Low Density PE (LDPE) and High Density PE (HDPE). The latter is stronger than LDPE due to its higher density.

PE is often used to manufacture plastic tanks, chemical drums and sewage drains. Not all plastic products can be moulded. Often, the runs are too small or the construction requires certain connections that can only be made by welding.

How do you make a strong product out of plastic? We can weld polythene in various ways. It depends on the shape and type of construction which welding method is best. With our PE welding techniques, we can manufacture all kinds of products, both in the HDPE and LDPE variant. This may involve a single unique product or serial production. The possibilities are truly endless.

In the idea and design phase too, we are happy to help you find the right solution to your question. Of course, you can also come to us with your well-defined plans. We will then immediately send you a competitive quotation for your plastic product wishes.

What is Polypropylene?

Polypropylene (PP) is part of the family of thermoplastics. Polypropylene is one of the best plastics for welding.

PP is particularly strong and has great resistance to chemical attack by, for example, acids, alkalis and solvents, and PP is bacteria-resistant. The extremely good resistance to acids is a particularly important property. PP floats on water, which is why you often come across PP for applications on water.

Polypropylene is resistant to stress corrosion. It may sound crazy that corrosion can also occur in plastics, but it does. This involves cracking, especially at those points where mechanical stress occurs in combination with a chemical action. PP is a plastic that is highly resistant to this.

PP is resistant to bacterial growth and as soon as hygiene plays a role, PP is preferred. PP is also an ideal plastic in situations where heating plays a role. Polypropylene is fully recyclable. The process of recycling is relatively simple. Unlike PVC recycling, no hazardous substances are released during polypropylene recycling.

In our many years of experience in plastic welding, PP occupies an important place. We will be happy to advise you on the best application and possible construction. Whether for one-off or series production: you can call on us as early as the design phase.
